Guide5 tips for getting started in karting
Your child wants to learn karting? These 5 tips will help them get off to a perfect start in motorsport.
1. Start small: a kids & teens karting course is the best way in. Rental kart, helmet and coaching are included, and your child quickly finds out whether they enjoy the sport – without having to buy any equipment.
2. Mind the height: besides age, height matters most, because pedals and seat have to fit. Depending on the kart track, the minimum height for our courses is between 125 and 145 cm.
3. The right clothing: for the first course, comfortable long clothing and sturdy shoes are enough – we provide the helmet. Regular drivers later invest in their own helmet, race suit, gloves and neck and rib protection.
4. Fun before lap times: especially at the start, the joy of driving comes first. Small groups and experienced instructors make sure children learn without pressure and improve step by step.
5. Plan the next step: after the course comes the karting licence. Then it’s on to a kart camp in the holidays, the Kids Academy or – from age 11 and 146 cm – training in an ÖTSM race kart.
